about

I wrote this song years ago - I think it was around the year 2000. For a couple of years I would begin each January by writing a song a day for as many days as I could make myself do it. I wrote this song on January 8th, which happens to be the birthday of Elvis, among other people. For various reasons, it took me several years to get the recording of this song the way I wanted, but I am truly pleased with this version. The music and arrangement of this version were co-written with Lucio Menegon, who also plays that amazing guitar solo, and that's Joe Rut singing harmony with me.

lyrics

I'm writing you this song on your birthday
I don't even know where you are today
Are you miles from here
And is everything finally clear?

I'm writing you this song on your birthday
There are so many things that I'd like to say
But I'm gonna save them for some other day
But I'm gonna sing to you anyway
Are you happy today and is everything finally ok?

I'm writing you this song on your birthday
I don't even know where you are today

Happy birthday
